Overview

Diabetic feet is one of the major complications of diabetes and the name indicates the polymorphous pathology that can develop as a consequence of distal and symmetrical polyneuropathy and/or arteriopathy obliterans of the lower limbs. Infection is a complication of both neuropathic and ischaemic lesions, and forms a third clinical picture, of varying severity, which is called “infected foot”. This is why it is extremely important to classify the patient with a diabetic foot in a course of prevention, treatment and rehabilitation.
