On Thursday, April 11th and Friday, April 12th, Gruppo Humantech took part in the “Burn Scar Congress: Tradition and Innovation in Therapies as a Bridge Between Past and Future.” This clinical deep-dive attracted the attention of various medical professionals with the aim of establishing a shared path for the treatment of burn scars.

The approach to burn patients has evolved over time, and current clinical practice offers various solutions, each requiring its own timing. Depending on the type and depth of the burn, doubts may arise about the scarring evolution in patients; consequently, there is a need to standardize treatments to allow patients to achieve tissue and functional healing with contained aesthetic damage. Therefore, the goal is to ensure patients’ adequate reintegration into social fabric, family life, and the work environment to contain potential psychological damage and promote psychological balance.

Ample space was given to the comparison of different proposals and practices: Gruppo Humantech specialists Fabio Carini, Orthopedic Technician, and Katy Nichetti, specialized in burn products, shared with attendees the practical demonstration of prosthetization with myoelectric prosthesis by Antonio Bianco, a patient injured by a severe burn. Following this, they presented custom-made braces and sheaths for children with conditions and also for individuals not affected by burns.

The event proved to be a fruitful opportunity to listen to patients’ experiences and the knowledge of industry professionals.
