CME course: osteoporosis and orthopaedic corsets

Osteoporosis is a disease characterised by both a reduction in bone mass and an alteration of its architecture. Among the skeletal segments affected by this dysfunction is the spinal column: external support, such as a corset, is required to prevent slipping vertebrae in the patient.

On Friday, September 30th, the Humantech Group headquarters in Torre De’ Roveri hosted the CME course: osteoporosis and orthopaedic corsets, organised to provide professionals with a comprehensive overview of this pathology.

During the meeting, Dr. Alberto Marchetti, Surgeon Specialising in Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine, and Dr. Claudio Testi, Orthopaedic Technician, took the floor to explain to the attendees the various types of existing orthopaedic corsets. Further training objectives of the course were: to learn on a practical level how to wear orthopaedic corsets for osteoporosis; to learn about the signs, symptoms and epidemiology of osteoporosis; to understand the correct spinal orthosis prescription for the patient; and to interact between the various professionals who take care of the osteoporotic patient.
