Overview
Through this course, participants will enhance their knowledge of prosthetics, with a specific focus on electronic lower limb and myoelectric upper limb prostheses.
In particular, it will analyse how the available technologies are changing the methodology for making upper and lower limb prostheses for amputee patients.
The treatment of amputee patients will be examined from a surgical to a rehabilitation approach, including aspects related to prescribing prosthetic devices.
Goal
• Be aware of the various types of electronic lower limb prostheses
• Understand the course of prescription/rehabilitation for amputee patients
• Assess amputee patients in their biopsychosocial context
• Discuss the importance of the professional team in the approach to the amputee patient
• Assess gait in patients with an external lower limb prosthesis
• Know the technological evolution of myoelectric upper limb prostheses
